Chris Bacon has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature Sherlock Gnomes. The film directed by John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) is the sequel to 2011’s Gnomeo & Juliet, which the composer co-scored with James Newton Howard. The movie’s voice cast includes Johnny Depp who lends his voice to the title character, as well as James McAvoy and Emily Blunt who reprise their characters from the original movie. The sequel follows Gnomeo & Juliet as they recruit renown detective, Sherlock Gnomes, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments. Elton John wrote original songs and is also producing the project through his Rocket Pictures company with David Furnish, Steve Hamilton Shaw and Carolyn Soper. Sherlock Gnomes is set to be released on March 23, 2018 by Paramount Pictures.

Bacon’s other upcoming projects also include the Amazon original series The Tick, which will premiere on August 25.
