Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Despicable Me 3 directed by Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda & Eric Guillon and featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate and Julie Andrews. The film’s original score is composed by Heitor Pereira (The Angry Birds MovieThe Smurfs) and Pharrell Williams wrote the movie’s original songs. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack featuring the songs (click here for more information) and Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack featuring Pereira’s score (click here for the full details).

Already playing in theaters since this past Wednesday is the action comedy Baby Driver written and directed by Edgar Wright and starring Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. Steven Price (GravitySuicide SquadFury, Attack the Block) wrote the film’s original score. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by artists including  Simon & Garfunkel, Blur, Kid Koala, Sky Ferreira, The Beach Boys, T. Rex, Beck, Queen, The Commodores & more. Check out our previous article for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the comedy The House directed by Andrew Jay Cohen and starring Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas, Nick Kroll, Allison Tolman, Michaela Watkins, Ryan Simpkins, Jessie Ennis, Rob Huebel and Cedric Yarbrough. The film’s original score is composed by Andrew Feltenstein John Nau (Anchorman 2: The Legend ContinuesCasa de mi Padre). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack featuring two tracks by the composers, as well as songs by LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Alabama 3 & more. Opening in limited release is the indie comedy The Little Hours written and directed by Jeff Baena and starring Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Fred Armisen, Jemima Kirke, Lauren Weedman and Nick Offerman. Dan Romer (Beasts of No NationBeasts of the Southern WildDigging for Fire) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The comedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Gunpowder & Sky. Visit the official movie website for more information.

Also opening in limited release is the romantic thriller 2:22 directed by Paul Currie and starring Michiel Huisman, Teresa Palmer, Sam Reid and Simone Kessell. The film’s original music is composed by Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard (GladiatorWhale RiderJane Got a Gun) and James Orr. Also opening in select cities is the documentary The B-Side directed by Errol Morris about legendary photographer Elsa Dorfman, whose subjects have included such friends as Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, and Jonathan Richman. Paul Leonard-Morgan (LimitlessDreddWalking with Dinosaurs 3DThe Numbers Station) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. The documentary premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being distributed in the U.S. by Neon.

Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the biographical drama Marie Curie directed by Marie Noelle and starring Karolina Gruszka, Arieh Worthalter, Charles Berling, André Wilms, Malik Zidi, Samuel Finzi, Izabela Kuna, Marie Denarnaud, Daniel Olbrychski and Sabin Tambrea. The film’s original music is composed by Bruno Coulais (CoralineThe ChorusThe Crimson RiversWinged Migration). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released earlier this year when the movie opened overseas. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details.

Opening in select theaters is the Netflix original movie Okja directed by Bong Joon Ho and starring Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Seohyun An, Devon Bostick, Lily Collins, Byun Heebong, Shirley Henderson, Daniel Henshall, Yoon Je Moon, Choi Wooshik and Steven Yeun. Jaeil Jung has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack album. The monster movie is now also available to stream on Netflix.
