Except for the nationwide expansion of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, which opened in limited release last week, no other movies are opening nationwide this weekend.

anomalisaOpening in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles this week before expanding nationwide later this month is the animated feature Anomalisa  directed by Duke Johnson & Charlie Kaufman and featuring the voices of Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan and David Thewlis. The film’s original music is composed by Carter Burwell (FargoCarol, TwilightTrue Grit, Being John Malkovich). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original songs None of them Are You (feat. lyrics by Kaufman) and Goddess of Heaven. yosemiteAlso opening in limited release is the indie drama Yosemite written and directed by Gabrielle Demeestere and starring James Franco, Henry Hopper, Calum John, Alec Mansky and Everett Meckler. Ryder McNair has composed the film’s original music. Yosemite is set in the fall of 1985 and follows three 5th grade friends who unfold in the suburban paradise of Palo Alto, as the threat of a mountain lion looms over the community. The drama premiered at last year’s Slamdance Film Festival and is being released by Monterey Media. To learn more about the film, visit the official movie website.
