Dickon Hinchliffe is scoring the upcoming crime drama Rampart. The movie based on a story by James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential, The Black Dahlia) is directed by Oren Moverman (The Messenger) who also co-wrote the script with Ellroy. The film centers on the widespread corruption in the anti-gang unit of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division in the late 1990’s. Woody Harrelson stars as an LAPD officer on a redemptive journey as he finds himself embroiled in the scandal. Ben Foster, Steve Buscemi, Ice Cube, Sigourney Weaver, Anne Heche, Cynthia Nixon and Robin Wright are co-starring. No release date has been announced yet for Rampart, but the indie film is rumored to premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival in September.
As previously reported, Hinchliffe, whose best known feature film credit is last year’s Best Picture Oscar nominee Winter’s Bone, also has the thriller The Fields starring Sam Worthington, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chloe Moretz coming up.
