Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Morgan directed by Luke Scott, produced by Ridley Scott and starring Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Paul Giamatti. The film’s original music is composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Waltz with Bashir, Disconnect, Testament of Youth). No word on a soundtrack release. Morgan centers around corporate troubleshooter who is summoned to a remote research lab to determine whether or not to terminate a genetically-engineered being. The movie is being released by 20th Century Fox. Visit the official movie website for more information.
Also opening wide is the drama The Light Between Oceans written and directed by Derek Cianfrance and starring Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Rachel Weisz, Bryan Brown and Jack Thompson. Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details. The release is distributed overseas by Sony Classical.
