Bullet Bones Danger has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Ed Sullivan. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bullet Shields (aka Ryan Shields) (Aviva, Reggie, Creating a Character: The Moni Yakim Legacy). Sunday Best is directed by Sacha Jenkins and recounts Sullivan’s show business career with an emphasis on his support of Black American artists, including his friendship with Bill Robinson. The movie traces the rise of the greatest names in music through the barrier-breaking host that introduced them to the world, featuring some of the first-ever TV performances from artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, The Jackson 5,James Brown, Nat King Cole, among others.

Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Harriet, Perry Mason, Da 5 Bloods, Red Tails) is scoring the upcoming documentary Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues. The film is directed by Sacha Jenkins (Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men) and offers a definitive look at the master musician’s life and legacy as a founding father of jazz, the first pop star and a cultural ambassador of the United States. The movie draws on Armstrong’s audio diaries to revisit the music and reappraise the politics of the legendary jazz trumpeter and singer.
