Daniel Pemberton has composed the score for the upcoming British comedy Cuban Fury. The film is directed by James Griffiths and stars Nick Frost, Chris O’Dowd, Olivia Colman, Rashida Jones, Ian McShane, Rory Kinnear, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Alexandra Roach. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck man who reignites his long-dormant passion for salsa dancing after falling for his gorgeous American boss. Jon Brown (Misfits, Fresh Meat) has written the screenplay. James Biddle and Nira Park (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul) are producing the project for Big Talk Productions. Pemberton has previously collaborated with the producers on Big Talk’s In Fear, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and which will open in British theaters next month. Cuban Fury is set to be released on February 14, 2014 in the UK.

‘The Counselor’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for Ridley Scott’s thriller The Counselor. The album features the film’s original score composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Awakening, In Blood). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 22, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version is set to be released on November 11 (click here to order the CD). The Counselor is directed by Ridley Scott and written by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men) stars Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt. The movie follows a respected lawyer whose one-time dalliance with an illegal business deal spirals out of control. The thriller will be released nationwide on October 25, 2013 by 20th Century Fox.
Daniel Pemberton Scoring Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counselor’
Daniel Pemberton has recently recorded his score for Ridley Scott’s upcoming thriller The Counselor. The film starring Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Rosie Perez and Dean Norris follows a lawyer who finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking. Novelist Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men, The Road) wrote the screenplay. Scott is also producing the Scott Free and Chockstone Pictures production with Nick Wechsler (Magic Mike, We Own the Night) and Steve Schwartz & Paula Mae Schwartz (Killing Them Softly, The Road). The music was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. The project marks Pemberton’s first collaboration with Scott.
Expanded ‘Black Rain’ Soundtrack Announced
La-La Land Records has announced an expanded and remastered soundtrack release for Ridley Scott’s 1989 action thriller Black Rain starring Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia and Ken Takakura. The 2-CD set features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer on one disc and the original 1989 album (which includes such songs as I’ll Be Holding On performed Gregg Allman, Livin’ on the Edge of the Night by Iggy Pop and The Way You Do the Things You Do by UB 40), as well as a number of bonus tracks on the second disc. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marc Streitenfeld (Robin Hood, American Gangster), as well as two tracks from the additional music written by Harry Gregson-Williams. The soundtrack will be released on June 12, 2012 by Sony Masterworks and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next few weeks. ‘Prometheus’ to Feature Music by Harry Gregson-Williams
Harry Gregson-Williams has revealed on his official Facebook fan page that is currently working on Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi film Prometheus. According to the composer, he will be “supplementing the score” by Marc Streitenfeld who is the film’s primary composer. Gregson-Williams previously collaborated with Scott on 2005’s historical epic Kingdom of Heaven. Prometheus starring Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster follows a team of explorers who discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth. The film will be released on June 8, 2012 by 20th Century Fox.
Marc Streitenfeld to Reunite with Ridley Scott on ‘Prometheus’
Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Marc Streitenfeld will be scoring Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus. The composer’s involvement has been expected given his relationship with the director. Streitenfeld has scored Scott’s previous four movies American Gangster, A Good Year, Body of Lies and last year’s Robin Hood. Prometheus stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster. Very little information has been revealed about the film’s plot so far, but it has been reported that the story will involve a team of scientists whose spaceship gets marooned on a distant planet and that the storyline will be connected to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien.
‘Life in a Day’ to feature music by Harry Gregson-Williams
Harry Gregson-Williams has recently recorded music for the upcoming documentary Life in a Day. The film was shot by filmmakers all over the world that serves as a time capsule to show future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010. Around 4,500 hours were shot, having been sent in from 192 countries. The movie is directed by Kevin Macdonald who helmed the Award-winning docs One Day in September and Touching the Void, as well as the features The Last King of Scotland, State of Play and the upcoming The Eagle. Life in a Day also features music and sounds by Matthew Herbert who has been working on the documentary for quite some time (check out this YouTube video for more information on his role). No information has been given yet on the extent of Gregson-Williams’ involvement.
