Bucks Records has released the first-ever soundtrack album for the 2005 German/Polish romantic period drama The Call of the Toad (Unkenrufe) directed by Robert Gliński, based on the novel of the same title by Günter Grass and starring Matthias Habich and Krystyna Janda . The album features the film’s original score composed by Richard G. Mitchell (A Good Woman, Moby Dick, Oddity, To Kill a King, Born American, Grand Theft Parsons, Basil) and performed by the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tadeusz Karolak. Weekly Film Music Roundup (July 19, 2024)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the disaster movie Twisters directed by Lee Isaac Chung and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, Glen Powell, Nik Dodani, Sasha Lane, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Kiernan Shipka and Daryl McCormack. The film’s original score is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Shazam!, The Flash, Blade Runner 2049, The Invisible Man, Hidden Figures). Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music on August 2. Atlantic Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie today. Composer Richard G. Mitchell (A Good Woman, Moby Dick, To Kill a King, Grand Theft Parsons, Born American, Basil) is reteaming with director Damian Mc Carthy on the upcoming Irish supernatural horror thriller Oddity. The film is written and directed by Mc Carthy and stars Gwilym Lee, Carolyn Bracken, Caroline Menton, Tadhg Murphy, Steve Wall, Jonathan French and Joe Rooney. The movie revolves around a blind medium that uncovers the truth behind her sister’s death with the help of a frightening wooden mannequin.
