Focus Features has published the complete scores of its major awards contenders this season. Among the titles is Gus Van Sant’s drama Promised Land, which features music composed by Danny Elfman. The film starring Matt Damon, John Krasinski, Rosemarie DeWitt, Hal Holbrook, Scoot McNairy, Titus Welliver and Frances McDormand also features an original song, Snake Eyes, written by Kenneth A. Two new movies are opening wide this Memorial Day weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi comedy Men in Black 3 directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Jemaine Clement, Alice Eve and Emma Thompson. The film’s score is composed by Danny Elfman. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the horror film Chernobyl Diaries based on a story by Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity), directed by Bradley Parker and starring Jesse McCartney, Jonathan Sadowski, Devin Kelley, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Nathan Phillips, Ingrid Bolso Berdal and Dimitri Diatchenko. The film follows six tourists who take an extreme tour of Pripyat, the abandoned city near the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Diego Stocco is the composer of the film. ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ Soundtrack Details
The track list of the soundtrack release for Wes Anderson’s comedy drama Moonrise Kingdom has been revealed. The album features five tracks from the film’s original score composed by Alexandre Desplat, as well as music by Leonard Bernstein, Benjamin Britten, Hank Williams, Françoise Hardy and Peter Jarvis. The soundtrack will be released on May 22, 2012 by ABKCO Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Alexandre Desplat Scoring Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’
Alexandre Desplat has recently recorded his music for the upcoming indie drama Moonrise Kingdom. The film marks the composer’s second collaboration with director Wes Anderson after 2009’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox, for which Desplat earned an Academy Award nomination. The movie stars Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Francis McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. The film is co-written by Anderson and Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited) and is set in a small New England town that is turned upside down when a young boy and girl who fall in love run away together. Anderson is producing the project alongside Scott Rudin (The Social Network, No Country for Old Men), Steven Rales (Young Adult) and Jeremy Dawson (Fantastic Mr. Fox).
