Hollywood Chamber Orchestra music directors Noah Gladstone and Mark Robertson today announced that Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Carnivale, Appaloosa, Pollock) will conduct the world premiere of his score to the 2013 documentary Blackfish, live-to-picture, on Friday, July 1, 2016, at the Montalbán Theater in Hollywood. The movie, which centers on the controversial captivity of killer whales, premiered in competition at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in January 2013 and was released in theaters later that year by Magnolia Pictures. The film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite was also one of the first projects selected by CNN to be distributed via their 24-hour news channel.
