Singer/songwriter, poet and political activist Michael Franti has composed the original music for the upcoming sports comedy Champions. The film is directed by Bobby Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary) and stars Woody Harrelson, Kaitlin Olson, Ernie Hudson, Cheech Marin and Matt Cook. The movie is based on the 2018 Spanish feature Campeones and revolves around a former minor-league basketball coach who, after a series of missteps, is ordered by the court to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities.
John Debney to Score ‘The Three Stooges’
John Debney has been hired to score the upcoming slapstick comedy The Three Stooges. The film based on the mid-20th century comedy shorts is directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly (There’s Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber). The movie stars Chris Diamantopolous as Moe Howard, Sean Hayes as Larry Fine and Will Sasso as Curly Howard. Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko and Carly Craig are co-starring. Mike Cerrone (Me, Myself and Irene) co-wrote the screenplay with the Farrelly Brothers who are also producing with Bradley Thomas and Charles B. Wessler. The Three Stooges takes place when the trio are dumped out as newborns at the door of an orphanage and the story follows them into adulthood. According to an interview with Peter Farrelly on EW.com, the film is structured in three acts, each a stand-alone story like the original episodes, but loosely connected.
