Carter Burwell is set to reunite with director Bill Condon on the upcoming drama Mr. Holmes. The film stars Ian McKellan as Sherlock Holmes at age 93, as well as Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Patrick Kennedy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Roger Allam, Phil Davis, Frances de la Tour and Milo Parker. The movie is set in 1947, when an ageing Holmes returns from a journey to Japan and faces the end of his days, tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son. Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess, Casanova) has written the screenplay based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin.

‘The Fifth Estate’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the WikiLeaks drama The Fifth Estate. The album features the film’s original score composed by Carter Burwell (Fargo, True Grit, Being John Malkovich) who has previously collaborated with director Bill Condon on Gods and Monsters, Kinsey and the final two movies in the Twilight saga. Also included are the songs featured in the film, including Amon Tobin’s Always, Yppah’s Never Mess With Sunday, Tame Impala’s Elephant and Emika’s Come Catch Me. The soundtrack will be released physically and digitally on October 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange and Daniel Brühl as Daniel Domscheit-Berg, as well as Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis, Peter Capaldi, Dan Stevens, Alicia Vikander and Carice van Houten. The movie chronicles the early days of WikiLeaks, culminating in the release of a series of controversial and history changing information leaks. Josh Singer (Fringe, The West Wing) wrote the screenplay based on Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website by Daniel Domscheit-Berg and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy by David Leigh and Luke Harding.
BREAKING NEWS: Carter Burwell returns to score final ‘Twilight’ films
Film Music Reporter has learned that Carter Burwell will return to the Twilight franchise to score the two final films in the series. The final two movies are directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls), who worked with Burwell on Gods and Monsters and Kinsey. Burwell previously scored the first part in the series directed by Catherine Hardwicke, with Alexandre Desplat taking over for New Moon, followed by Howard Shore for last year’s Eclipse. There have been many rumors going around on who the composer for the final movies will be (including such names as Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell), but ultimately Carter Burwell was chosen to return to the series.
