John Ottman to score The Losers

John Ottman has been hired to score the upcoming graphic novel adaptation The Losers directed by Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard). Leading the diverse cast are Zoe Saldana, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, Idris Elba and Oscar Jaenada. After several release date changes, the movie is scheduled to be released on April 23 in the US.

Beltrami to score The Sunset Limited

Marco Beltrami recently finished working on the score for the HBO movie The Sunset Limited. The movie is based on the Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men, The Road) novel and stars Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson. The project reunites director Tommy Lee Jones with Beltrami who previously collaborated on The Three Burials of Melquiadas Estrada and will premiere on HBO later this year. Beltrami also has the Sci-Fi thriller Repo Men coming up next month and finished the score to the Wes Craven directed horror movie My Soul To Take a while ago. He is currently working on the Guillermo del Toro produced horror thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, which should be released later this year.

Michael Giacchino wins BAFTA Award

Last Sunday, Michael Giacchino won his first British Academy of Film and Television Award for his original music for Pixar’s animated feature Up. Earlier this year, he already won a Grammy, as well as a Golden Globe Award for the score and he is the frontrunner to go home with an Academy Award as well when winners are announced on March 7.
