WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the legal drama The Judge. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Thomas Newman (American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Skyfall, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel). The soundtrack will be released on October 7, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action thriller The Equalizer directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Chloë Grace Moretz, Marton Csokas, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. The film’s original music is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek series, Man on Fire, Unstoppable) who previously scored the director’s The Replacement Killers. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. Check out our previous article for the full album details. Also opening wide this weekend is the animated feature The Boxtrolls directed by Anthony Stacchi & Graham Annable and featuring the voices of Ben Kingsley, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Elle Fanning, Jared Harris, , Tracy Morgan, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade and Simon Pegg. Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the film, including The Boxtrolls Song written by Eric Idle and performed by Mark Orton and Loch Lomond. Paolo Buonvino has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama Fathers and Daughters. The film is directed by Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds) and stars Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Paul, Jane Fonda, Octavia Spencer, Quvenzhane Wallis, Diane Kruger, Bruce Greenwood and Janet McTeer. The movie follows a woman dealing with a crumbling relationship in the present and looking back on the relationship she had with her Pulitzer Prize-winning father, 25 years earlier. Brad Desch has written the Black List-honored screenplay. Craig J. Flores (Charlie Countryman) & Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Killer Joe) are producing the project for Voltage Pictures, alongside Sherryl Clark (Plush) for Busted Shark Productions. ‘St. Vincent’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the comedy drama St. Vincent have been revealed. The album features the songs from the film, including two new songs by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. Also included are songs by Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan, The National, JD and the Straight Shoot, Nyzzy Nyce, Brewer & Shipley, Bronze Radio Return, Fingazz & Ca$hizz Klay and Vechyaslav Samarin. The soundtrack will be released on October 27, 2014 by Sony Masterworks and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s original score composed by Theodore Shapiro. St. Vincent written and directed by Theodore Melfi and starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Terrence Howard, Chris O’Dowd and Scott Adsit will be released in select cities on October 10 by the Weinstein Company before expanding nationwide over the following of weeks. John Frizzell Scoring CBS Drama ‘Stalker’

John Frizzell is composing the music for the new CBS drama Stalker. The show is created by Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson’s Creek, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and stars Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott, Victor Rasuk and Mariana Klaveno. The psychological thriller follows two detectives who investigate stalking incidents – including voyeurism, cyber harassment and romantic fixation – for the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD. Williamson is executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production. Frizzell has previously collaborated with Williamson on his directorial debut Teaching Mrs. Tingle starring Helen Mirren, as well as on the TV shows The Secret Circle and Fox’s The Following, which will return for a third season in early 2015. Marty Beller Scoring Fox’s ‘Gracepoint’

Marty Beller is the composer of the new Fox mystery event series Gracepoint. The show created by Chris Chibnall (United, Camelot) is a remake of the critically acclaimed British TV series Broadchurch and stars David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Kevin Zegers, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Jessica Lucas, Jack Irvine, Virginia Kull, Sarah-Jane Potts and Josh Hamilton. The crime drama follows the tragic death of a young boy, and the major police investigation and nationwide media frenzy that subsequently overtake a picturesque seaside town, where anyone is a suspect. ‘Zombie Broadway’ to Feature Music by Dave Stewart and Michael Bradford

Dave Stewart and Michael Bradford are writing original songs and music for the upcoming horror musical Zombie Broadway. The film based on Stewart’s own graphic novel of the same title is set in a Zombie-ridden, apocalyptic New York where the fate of the city lies in the hands of the only surviving musical theatre troop putting on the show of their lives. The movie is being described as Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Bullets Over Broadway. Cole Haddon (NBC’s Dracula) is writing the screenplay and Pam Williams & David Jacobson (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) are producing the project alongside Stewart. The former Eurythmics member has previously scored a number of film, including Robert Altman’s Cookie’s Fortune, Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls and Ted Demme’s Beautiful Girls. Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature The Book of Life. The album features the film’s original music composed by Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries), including selections from the composer’s original score, as well as the film’s songs, including cover versions of Radiohead’s Creep, Biz Markie’s Just a Friend, Rod Stewart’s Do Ya Think I’m Sexy and Mumford & Sons’ I Will Wait performed by Diego Luna and GabrieL Iglesias. Also included are original songs by performed by Jesse & Joy and La Santa Cecilia, as well as tracks by Us The Duo and Kinky’s Más. The soundtrack will be released on October 21, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Book of Life is directed by Jorge Gutierrez, produced by Guillermo del Toro and features the voice talent of Channing Tatum, Zoë Saldana, Diego Luna, Ice Cube, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Kate del Castillo and Eugenio Derbez. The movie follows a young man torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart who embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears.
