Aaron Zigman has been hired to score Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection. The film is written and directed by Perry who also stars in the film alongside Eugene Levy, Doris Roberts, Tom Arnold, Denise Richards, Danielle Campbell, Devan Leos, Romeo, John Amos and Marla Gibbs. In the comedy, Levy plays a high level CFO at the center of a Ponzi scheme in New York City who is enrolled in the Witness Protection program along with his family in the one place that absolutely no one will think to look for them: Madea’s house down South. Ozzie Areu, President of Tyler Perry Studios, and Paul E. Hall are producing the film with Perry. Madea’s Witness Protection is set to be released on June 29, 2012 by Lionsgate. Zigman is also scoring the the NBC comedy pilot Happy Valley. The show is created by Hilary Winston (Happy Endings, My Name is Earl) and stars Sarah Wright, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mena Suvari, Kyle Howard, Aubrey Dollar and Joanna Kerns. The project revolves around a shy and focused woman who leans on her co-workers in a bid to come out of her shell and plot her revenge after being dumped by her fiancé. Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages) is directing the pilot and Winston is executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings) and Julia Franz. NBC is expected to decide next month if Happy Valley will be picked up to series.
