Gaga Corporation announced today that Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, The Revenant, Little Buddha, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Snake Eyes) is set to score the upcoming Japanese drama Monster (Kaibutsu). The film is directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (Shoplifters, The Truth, Broker) and stars Sakura Ando, Nagayama Eita, Mitsuki Takahata, Akihiro Kakuta, Yuko Tanaka, Shido Nakamura, Soya Kurokawa and Hinata Hiiragi. No story details have been announced yet. Yuji Sakamoto wrote the screenplay. Genki Kawamura (Your Name., Belle) serves as the project’s head producer. Monster is set to be released in Japanese theaters on June 2, 2023. No domestic distribution deal has been set yet.
