Singer/songwriter Linda Perry (of the former rock band 4 Non Blondes) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix original film Luckiest Girl Alive. The movie is directed by Mike Barker (A Good Woman, Best Laid Plans) and stars Mila Kunis, Finn Wittrock, Connie Britton, Jennifer Beals, Scoot McNairy, Justine Lupe, Chiara Aurelia, Alex Barone, Thomas Barbusca and Carson MacCormac. The drama is based on the bestselling novel by Jessica Knoll and follows a writer whose perfectly crafted New York City life starts to unravel when a true-crime documentary forces her to confront her harrowing high school history. Knoll also wrote the screenplay. Kunis is also producing the project with Bruna Papandrea (Wild, Big Little Lies), Jeanne Snow, Erik Feig (Step Up, Wrong Turn) and Lucy Kitada (The Baby-Sitters Club, Am I OK?). Luckiest Girl Alive will be released in select theaters on September 30 before premiering on October 7 on Netflix.
Perry has previously scored the feature documentaries Kid 90 and Citizen Penn, Peacock’s Punky Brewster reboot, as well as Michael Morris’ To Leslie, which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and has been picked up by Momentum Pictures for a U.S. release in late 2022 or 2023.
