Composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, Darkest Hour, Anna Karenina, Paddington 2) is reuniting with director Travis Knight on LAIKA’s upcoming animated feature Wildwood. The film is based on the bestselling novel written by The Decemberists lead singer and songwriter Colin Meloy and illustrated by artist Carson Ellis and follows the adventures of Prue McKeel as she sets off to the forests outside Portland’s city limits to find her baby brother who has been taken by a murder of crows. Chris Butler wrote the screenplay. Knight is also producing the project with Arianne Sutner (ParaNorman, Missing Link). Marianelli has previously scored Knight’s first two directorial efforts, Kubo and the Two Strings & Bumblebee, and also composed the music for LAIKA’s The Boxtrolls produced by Knight. No release date has been announced yet for Wildwood.
