Composer Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge of Terabithia, John Q, The Proposal, Sex and the City, Wakefield, Escape from Planet Earth, The Ugly Truth) is reuniting with director Tyler Perry on the upcoming Netflix original film A Jazzman’s Blues. The movie is written and directed by Perry and stars Joshua Boone, Solea Pfeiffer, Amirah Vann, Austin Scott, Brent Antonello, Milauna Jackson, Kario Marcel, Brad Benedict, Lana Young and Ryan Eggold. The period drama is set from 1937-87 and centers on an investigation into an unsolved murder unveiling a story full of forbidden love, deceit and a secret that has been held for 40 years. Perry is also producing the project. Zigman has previously scored numerous films for Perry, including Why Did I Get Married?, For Colored Girls, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, Meet the Browns and several of the director’s Madea movies. A Jazzman’s Blues is set to premiere this year on Netflix.
Zigman’s other recent projects include Lisa Donato’s Gossamer Folds, which is currently awaiting a release date, as well as Ben Epstein’s Who Are You People, which recently premiered at this year’s Mammoth Film Festival.
