Steve Wood has written the score for the upcoming IMAX documentary To the Arctic 3D. The movie is narrated by Meryl Streep and follows the lives of a mother polar bear and her twin seven-month-old cubs as they navigate the changing Arctic wilderness they call home. Two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Greg MacGillivray has directed the MacGillivray Freeman Films production, the company behind such IMAX hit films as Everest and The Living Sea. Wood is best known for scoring several movies from the production company, including the Oscar-nominated short Dolphins and Coral Reef Adventure. In addition to the score, the movie will also feature original songs by Paul McCartney who has written a number of songs for movies before, most recently for 2009’s Everybody’s Fine. He received his last Oscar nomination for the title song to Cameron Crowe’s 2001 film Vanilla Sky. To the Arctic 3D is scheduled for release on April 20, 2012 in IMAX theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures. To learn more about the project, visit the official movie website.
