Theodore Shapiro (Bombshell, The Devil Wears Prada, Ghostbusters, Destroyer, Marley & Me, Spy) has recently been scoring the upcoming Apple TV+ original series Severance. The show is written and created by Dan Erickson, directed by Ben Stiller (Zoolander, Escape at Dannemora) and stars Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, John Turturro, Dichen Lachman, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock and Zach Cherry. The thriller revolves around Lumen Industries, a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level and follows an employee with a dark past as he is trying to put himself back together. Stiller & Erickson are also executive producing the project with Chris Black and Red Hour Productions’ Nicky Weinstock (Escape at Dannemora, Queenpins) and Jackie Cohn (In the Dark). Shapiro has previously collaborated with Stiller on the features Tropic Thunder, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Zoolander 2. Severance is expected to premiere in 2022 on Apple TV+.
Shapiro’s recent projects include Michael Showalter’s The Eyes of Tammy Faye, which is currently playing in theaters, as well as Maya Forbes’ & Wally Wolodarsky’s The Good House, which premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date. He has also recently co-scored Disney+’s The Mysterious Benedict Society, which has just been renewed for a second season earlier this month.
