Arthur Sharpe (Guilt, Ghosts) has composed the original score for the upcoming British biographical drama The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. The film is directed by Will Sharpe and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, Andrea Riseborough and Toby Jones. The movie is set in Victorian London and tells the story of the titular 19th Century artist as he rises to prominence for his surreal cat paintings. Sharpe also co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Stephenson. Guy Heeley (Locke, Serenity), Ed Clarke, Leah Clarke & Adam Ackland (The Courier, The Mauritanian) are producing the project. Arthur Sharpe has previously collaborated with his brother Will on the features Black Pond & The Darkest Universe and the TV show Flowers. The Electrical Life of Louis Wain will premiere next month at the 2021 Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals and is expected to be released theatrically in several European markets later this year. The drama will make its U.S. debut on Amazon Prime.

If you don’t have a problem with tragic, slow-paced movies (I don’t), this is a superb and strikingly beautiful movie. My respects and compliments to both Arthur and Will Sharpe and the entire cast and crew for making this fine film.
