Bruno Coulais has recently recorded his score for the period drama Farewell, My Queen (Les adieux à la reine). The movie is directed by Benoit Jacquot (Right Now, A Single Girl) and stars Diane Kruger (National Treasure, Troy) as Marie-Antoinette. Lea Seydoux (Midnight in Paris) and Virginie Ledoyen (The Beach) are co-starring. The film is based on the prize-winning novel of the same name by Chantal Thomas and is set in the early days of the French revolution as people begin to revolt against the court of King Louis the XVI. The French/Spanish co-production is produced by Jean-Pierre Guerin, Kristina Larson and Pedro Uriol. It has been announced this past week that Farewell, My Queen will open the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival on February 9, 2012. The film is set for a release in a number of European countries this spring. No word yet on a domestic release
The composer who is best known for his work on Coraline and The Chorus recently had his score for the French family movie La Cle Des Champs released. Also coming up for Coulais this year is the live action adaptation of Sur la piste du Marsupilami.
