Jeff and Mychael Danna have been hired to score the upcoming CBC and Netflix mini-series Alias Grace. The show is created Sarah Polley (Away From Her, Take This Waltz) and stars Sarah Gadon, Anna Paquin, Zachary Levi, Paul Gross, Edward Holcroft, Kerr Logan, Rebecca Liddiard and David Cronenberg. The 6-parter centers on Grace Marks, a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who, along with stable hand James McDermott, was convicted of the brutal murders of their employer in 1843. Polley is also executive producing the Halfire Entertainment production with Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol) who is directing all episodes, as well as Noreen Halpern (Rookie Blue). Alias Grace is expected to premiere later this year in the U.S. and overseas on Netflix and in Canada on CBC.
Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball) and Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, Resident Evil: Apocalypse) have previously co-scored such films as The Good Dinosaur, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Storks, Lakeview Terrace, as well as the FX series Tyrant.
