Three new movies are opening nationwide:
Opening in most theaters is the action adventure Power Rangers directed by Dean Israelite and starring Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks. The film’s original music is composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Now You See Me). Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Life directed by Daniel Espinosa and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare and Olga Dihovichnaya. Jon Ekstrand (Easy Money, Child 44) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the action comedy CHiPs directed by Dax Shepard who also stars in the film with Michael Pena, Kristen Bell, Rosa Salazar, Adam Brody, Jane Kaczmarek and Vincent D’Onofrio. The movie’s original score is composed by Fil Eisler (Empire, Revenge, How to Be Single, Shameless, UnReal). Opening in around 300 theaters is the comedy Wilson directed by Craig Johnson and starring Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern, Judy Greer, Cheryl Hines and Isabella Amara. Jon Brion (Magnolia, I Heart Huckabees, Punch-Drunk Love, The Other Guys, Funny People, Trainwreck) has composed the film’s original music. According to the movie’s credits, Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the movie, but no announcement has been made yet. The comedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Fox Searchlight. Visit the official movie website for more information.
Also opening in limited release is the sci-fi drama Bokeh written and directed by Geoffrey Orthwein & Andrew Sullivan and starring Maika Monroe, Matt O’Leary, Arnar Jonsson and Gunnar Helgason. The film’s original music is composed by Keegan DeWitt (I’ll Follow You in My Dreams, Morris from America, Divorce, Making History, Listen Up Philip). No word on a soundtrack release. Bokeh follows an American couple on a romantic getaway to Iceland who wake up to discover every person on earth has disappeared. The drama is being released in theaters and on VOD by Screen Media Films.
Also opening in select cities is the action adventure Diamond Cartel directed by Salamat Mukhammed-Ali Armand Assante and starring Armand Assante, Peter O’Toole, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa & Bolo Yeung, Michael Madsen and Don “The Dragon” Wilson. lyas Autov, Dauren Mussa and Murzali Zheenbayev have composed the film’s original music. Cleopatra Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by artists such as Space Temple, Captain Beyond, The Warlocks, Magic Wands & more. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the British horror comedy Prevenge written and directed by Alice Lowe who also stars in the film alongside Gemma Whelan, Kate Dickie, Jo Hartley, Dan Renton Skinner, Kayvan Novak, Mike Wozniak, Tom Davis and Tom Meeten. The movie’s original music is composed by Toydrum (Detour). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack featuring the film’s score.
