It was announced today that Marius de Vries will serve as the music producer on the upcoming drama Teen Spirit. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Max Minghella and is being described as an “underdog story set in the world of pop-music, about growing up, dreaming big, and finding your voice.” Minghella also wrote the screenplay, which he developed with actor Jamie Bell who will be executive producing the movie. Fred Berger (La La Land) and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special, Insidious series) are producing the Automatik Entertainment production. Interscope Records is co-producing the project and will release the official soundtrack album. Also involved is music supervisor Steven Gizicki who worked with DeVries (Moulin Rouge!, Kick-Ass, Sucker Punch) and Berger on last year’s La La Land. No word yet on a production start date.
