Tonight, the SCL (Society of Composers & Lyricists) will be hosting the composer panel Composing Combos. The event will feature a conversation with Jeff Russo (Fargo, Power, CSI: Cyber) & cellist Zoë Keating who have co-scored the first season of A&E’s The Returned, as well as James Levine (Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story) & Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed) who are co-scoring the TNT hit series The Last Ship. Both combos will discuss the unique process of combining creative visions while working together to score television shows. The event, which will feature highlights from their various shows, followed by a Q&A, takes place at 7:30pm tonight at the Linwood Dunn Theater at Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study in Hollywood. On Monday, June 15, the SCL will be hosting an evening with the composers of 20th Century Fox Television, including Sean Callery who has scored the Fox event series 24: Live Another Day in 2014, as well as the Fox drama Backstrom and is also scoring the studios’ Homeland and Bones. Also participating at the event is Fil Eisler (Revenge, Shameless) who provides the underscore for this past TV season’s highest-rated network drama Empire, as well as Mac Quayle who scored the most recent season of FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show and also has the Fox anthology series Scream Queens coming up. The three composers will discuss how their scores intensify the action and drama of some the most popular shows on television.
