While no new TV shows are premiering this week, Amazon has made a number of new pilots available this past Thursday. Viewers will get to decide whether they want a full season by voting for the shows on the website.
One of Amazon’s drama pilots is the mystery drama The After created by Chris Carter (The X-Files, Millennium) and starring Sharon Lawrence, Jamie Kennedy, Aldis Hodge, Andrew Howard, Adrian Pasdar, Arielle Kebbel, Jaina Lee Ortiz and Louise Monot. John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf) has composed the project’s original music. Check out our previous news article to learn more about the assigment. The other drama pilot is the crime drama Bosch created by Michael Connelly (The Lincoln Lawyer, Blood Work) and starring Titus Welliver, Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Amy Price-Francis, Scott Wilson, Annie Wersching and Lance Reddick. The project is composed by Jesse Voccia (Ca$h, Game of Death, A haunted House 2). Bosch follows an LAPD homicide detective who works to solve the murder of a boy while standing trial for the murder of a serial killer. Connelly is also executive producing the project with Eric Overmyer (Law & Order, Treme) and Henrik Bastin. Jim McKay (Our Song, Girls Town) has directed the pilot, which is available to stream here.
One of the three comedy pilots is Mozart in the Jungle created by Paul Weitz (About A Boy, American Pie), Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited), Jason Schwartzman (Moonrise Kingdom) and Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher) and starring Gael Garcia Bernal, Saffron Burrows, Peter Vack, Lola Kirke, Bernadette Peters and Malcolm McDowell. Roger Neill (King of the Hill, Beginners, Tanner Hall) has composed the pilot’s original score. Mozart in the Jungle is based on the book by Blair Tindall and shows that what happens behind the curtains at the symphony can be just as captivating as what happens onstage. Another comedy pilot is Transparent created and executive produced by Jill Soloway (Afternoon Delight, Six Feet Under, The United States of Tara) and starring Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker, Judith Light and Jeffrey Tambor. The comedy’s original music is composed by Vincent Jones (Up All Night, Parks and Recreation theme). Transparent centers on an LA family with serious boundary issues who have their past and future unravel when a dramatic admission causes everyone’s secrets to spill out. Also now streaming on Amazon is the comedy pilot The Rebels created by Jeremy Garelick (The Break-Up, The Wedding Ringer) & Jon Weinbach (The Other Dream Team) and starring Natalie Zea, Hayes MacArthur, Affion Crockett, Amin Joseph, Haley Erin and Josh Peck. Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Devious Maids, Johnny English) has composed the pilot’s score. The Rebels follows a woman who is in over her head when her husband suddenly dies leaving her as sole owner of The LA Rebels, a pro-football team. Garelick and Weinbach are also executive producing the project with Matt Alvarez & Ice Cube (Ride Along, Are We There Yet?), Kevin Iwashina & Ross Dinerstein (The Divide, Jiro Dreams of Sushi), Constanze Schwartz and Michael Strahan.
