Jeff Toyne is scoring DIRECTV’s first original series Rogue. The drama is created by Matthew Parkhill (The Caller) and stars Thandie Newton as a morally and emotionally-conflicted undercover detective who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son’s death. Marton Csokas, Ian Hart, Claudia Ferri, Joshua Sasse, Jonathan Holmes, Sarah Jeffrey, Ian Tracey, Jarod Joseph, Matthew Beard and Martin Donovan are co-starring. Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire) has directed the first episode. Nick Hamm (The Hole, Godsend, Killing Bono) is executive producing the project for Greenroom Entertainment, alongside John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg for eOne and Steven Marrs. Rogue marks Toyne’s first major American TV show scoring assignment. The composer’s other previous credits include the feature drama Dirty Girl and the documentary Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story. Toyne’s other upcoming projects also includes the thriller Deadweight. The film is directed by Leah Walker and stars Sam Trammell (True Blood) as a young partner in a prestigious law firm. Laura Harris, Josh Close and Lina Roessle are co-starring. Jordan Walker has co-written the script and is producing the film with Justin Kelly and David Anselmo. Toyne has previously collaborated with Walker on the feature The Third Eye and the short The Knockout. Deadweight is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date. Also coming up for the composer is the indie feature Dear Jen directed by R. Stephen Suettinger and starring Brian Greenberg and Jamie Chung. The film marks Suettinger’s directorial debut and is set to shoot this spring.
