Film Music Reporter has learned that Mark Mothersbaugh has been tapped to score the upcoming animation Hotel Transylvania. The movie centers around a group of monsters including Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula, and the Werewolf who are hiding out in a hotel on the outskirts of Transylvania now that modern technology has made them seemingly irrelevant. The film is produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind 2009’s hit film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs which was scored by Mothersbaugh and also has Arthur Christmas (with music by Michael Giacchino) coming out later this year. Hotel Transylvania is helmed by Jill Culton who directed the 2006 animation Open Season which featured a score by Ramin Djawadi who was originally slated to score his new movie. The animated film is currently slated for a September 21, 2012 release.
As previously reported, Mothersbaugh also has IMAX’s Born to Be Wild coming up and is currently completing work on the 3D documentary which will be released in April. Also coming out this year is the Mexican indie comedy Private Perez which the composer recently finished scoring. In the movie, a Mexican crime lord is forced by his mother to plan a suicidal rescue mission to find his lost brother in the most unexpected place on Earth. The film is slated for a release in March in Mexico. Visit the official movie webpage to watch the teaser trailer.
Any chance you could check if the score has been kept, and John Powell hasn’t done a new one?
He hasn’t.
He hasnm’t been kept, or Powell hasn’t done a new score? I think we’re about to do a scene from “Clue” with “No”s and “Yes”s. 😉
Powell hasn’t done a new score.
which is what the end credit music on the DVD is ?Mark Mothersbaugh has made music for Hotel Transylvania but where can we hear it?
There’s been no release. The DVD is the only way you’re going to hear the score.
Can he put the score on YouTube so we can all see it?
