Stephen Rennicks (Room, Normal People, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, Frank, Conversations with Friends, The Quiet Girl, Alice & Jack) has recently scored the upcoming British biographical drama I Swear. The film is written and directed by Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee, Waking Ned Devine) and stars Robert Aramayo, Peter Mullan, Maxine Peake, Scott Ellis Watson and Shirley Henderson. The movie tells the true story of John Davidson, a trailblazer who was diagnosed with Tourette’s at age 15 and faced and overcame many hardships from adolescence and early adulthood as a result of what was a little known condition in 1980’s Britain. Jones is also producing the project with Piers Tempest (The Wife, Emily) and Georgia Bayliff (Paradise Highway). I Swear will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and is set to open in UK theaters on October 10.
Rennicks’ other recent projects include the Dutch/Belgian/Irish drama Whitetail. The film is written and directed by Nanouk Leopold (It’s All So Quiet) and stars Natasha O’Keeffe, Andrew Bennett, Rory Nolan, Aaron McCusker, Simone Kirby and Aidan O’Hare. The movie follows a haunted woman dealing with the guilt of a tragic accident in her teens whose past catches up with her, forcing her to find a way forward. Stienette Bosklopper (Cobain) and Maarten Swart (Krazy House, Almost Cops) are producing the project. Whitetail will also premiere next month at TIFF.
