Alex Heffes is reuniting with director Mikael Hafstrom on the upcoming action thriller The Tomb. The film starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger follows an expert on structural security who is put to the test when he is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design and must find the person who put him there. Amy Ryan, Jim Caviezel, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, Sam Neill and 50 Cent are also starring in the film. Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, The Bad Lieutenant) are producing the Emmett/Furla Films and Summit Entertainment production with Mark Canton (300, Immortals), Robbie Brenner (Machine Gun Preacher) and Kevin King-Templeton (The Expendables, Rocky Balboa). Miles Chapman and Jason Keller (Mirror, Mirror) have written the thriller’s script. Heffes has previously collaborated with Hafstrom on last year’s horror film The Rite starring Anthony Hopkins. The Tomb is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2013.
As previously reported, Heffes whose previous film scoring credits also include The Last King of Scotland, State of Play and Red Riding Hood, also has the historical drama Emperor directed by Peter Webber and starring Matthew Fox, Tommy Lee Jones and Eriko Hatsune coming up. The composer recorded his score earlier this summer with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The film is set to premiere next week at the Toronto Film Festival.
