Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action thriller Silent Night directed by John Woo and starring Joel Kinnaman, Scott Mescudi, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Harold Torres. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, The Hurt Locker, Ford v. Ferrari, The Wolverine). Also opening wide is the Japanese Japanese monster movie Godzilla Minus One written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki and starring Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Sakura Ando, Kuranosuke Sasaki and Hidetaka Yoshioka. Naoki Sato (Rurouni Kenshin, Pretty Cure, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Masquerade Night) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last month when the movie opened in Japan. Also opening nationwide is the faith-based sci-fi thriller The Shift written and directed by Brock Heasley and starring Kristoffer Polaha, Neal McDonough, Sean Astin, John Billingsley, Jason Marsden, Rose Reid, Paras Patel and John Walker Ross. The film’s original music is composed by Dan Haseltine & Matthew S. Nelson (The Chosen). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a man who meets a nefarious adversary known as The Benefactor and after refusing his offer of wealth and power must escape an alternate totalitarian reality, is being released by Angel Studios.

Opening in a single theater this weekend while also now streaming on Netflix is the family comedy Family Switch directed by McG and starring Jennifer Garner, Ed Helms, Emma Myers, Rita Moreno, Brady Noon, Matthias Schweighöfer, Vanessa Carrasco and Cyrus Arnold. Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, The Lost City, Stargirl, Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Krypton) has composed the original music for the film, which follows a family who descends into chaos when a rare cosmic event causes the parents to swap bodies with their teenage kids..
