Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the comedy No Hard Feelings directed by Gene Stupnitsky and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Andrew Barth Feldman, Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti. The film’s original score is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Where the Crawdads Sing, Moneyball, Onward) & Jessica Rose Weiss (Cinderella, Don’t Make Me Go, The Independent). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as two songs from the movie today. Opening in a few hundred theaters today is the thriller God Is a Bullet directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Maika Monroe, Jamie Foxx, January Jones, Karl Glusman, Paul Johansson and David Thornton. Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge of Terabithia, Sex and the City, The Proposal, John Q) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a score release. Opening in select theaters today before premiering next Friday, June 30 on Netflix is the animated feature Nimona directed by Nick Bruno & Troy Quane and starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, Eugene Lee Yang, Lorraine Toussaint and Frances Conroy. The film’s original score is composed by Christophe Beck (Ant-Man, Frozen, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, WandaVision). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be coming out next week. Also opening in select theaters today is the sports documentary The Last Rider directed by Alex Holmes about American cyclist Greg LeMond who defied the odds when he came back from the brink of death to beat his famed rivals in the historic race at the 1989 Tour de France. Samuel Sim (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Bay, Anne, The Spanish Princess, The Halcyon) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and is being distributed in the U.S. by Roadside Attractions.
Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the comedy Maximum Truth co-written and directed by David Stassen and starring Ike Barinholtz, Dylan O’Brien, Blake Anderson, Beth Grant, Brianna Baker, Max Minghella, Tony Rodriguez, Mark Proksch and Kiernan Shipka. The film’s original score is composed by Jeff Cardoni (Silicon Valley, White House Plumbers, Ghosts, The Kominsky Method, Heels). The movie, which follows a documentary film crew following a political grifter Rick Klingman as he teams up with a fellow “operative” to take down a rival congressional candidate, is being released by Momentum Pictures.
Another movie opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the fantasy drama Wonderwell directed by Vlad Marsavin and starring Carrie Fisher, Rita Ora, Nell Tiger Free, Sebastian Croft and Kiera Milward. William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Ladder 49, My Dog Skip, Tin Cup) has composed the film’s original score and Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, Mulholland Drive) has contributed a theme. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a naive and inquisitive 12-year-old girl on an adventure that transforms her life forever, is being distributed by Vertical Entertainment.
