Music Box Records has released a soundtrack album for the French crime drama Maigret and the Dead Lover (Maigret et le Mort amoureux). The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexei Aigui (The Truth, I Am Not Your Negro, Wild Field, The Young Karl Marx, Orwell: 2 + 2 = 5, Test, Exterminate All the Brutes). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list. Also listen to the composer’s title track after the jump. A CD version featuring Aigui’s score from Maigret and two other titles will be released in the coming weeks. Maigret and the Dead Lover is directed by Pascal Bonitzer and stars Denis Podalydès, Anne Alvaro, Manuel Guillot, Irène Jacob, Micha Lescot, Dominique Reymond, Olivier Rabourdin and Laurent Poitrenaux. The movie based on Georges Simenon’s novel Maigret et les vieillards follows Inspector Jules Maigret as he investigates the murder of a former ambassador. The mystery drama just opened in French theaters last Wednesday. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
