Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus, Smile, Utopia, Babygirl, The Girl with All the Gifts, The Third Day,National Treasure) has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming BBC drama Lord of the Flies. Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception, Dune, The Lion King) & Kara Talve (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Prehistoric Planet) of Bleeding Fingers Music who were previously announced to compose the score have provided the main theme and additional music for the show developed by Jack Thorne (Adolescence, His Dark Materials) based on William Golding’s classic novel of the same name and starring Winston Sawyers, Lox Pratt, David McKenna, Ike Talbut, Noah & Cassius Flemyng, Thomas Connor, Cornelius Brandreth and Tom Page-Turner. The series directed by Marc Munden (The Secret Garden, Never Let Me Go) tells the story of a group of young schoolchildren who find themselves stranded on a tropical island with no adults, following a deadly plane crash. Thorne is also executive producing the project for One Shoe Films, alongside Munden, as well as Joel Wilson & Jamie Campbell (The Enfield Haunting, Glue) for Eleven, Cailah Scobie (Bad Behaviour, Ten Pound Poms) for Stan and Nawfal Faizullah (The Tourist, Boat Story) for the BBC. Tapia de Veer has previously collaborated with Munden on Utopia, National Treasure and The Third Day. Lord of the Flies will premiere in the UK on February 8, 2026 on BBC One and will also be available to stream on the BBCiPlayer.
As previously reported, Tapia de Veer also has recently scored Gabriela Osio Vanden’s & Jack Weisman’s Nuisance Bear, which just premiered last weekend at the Sundance Film Festival and Pablo Trapero’s &Sons, which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
