Dan Deacon (Venom: The Last Dance, Rez Ball, The Changeling, Ascension, Twixt, All Light, Everywhere,Strawberry Mansion, Wedding Season) is scoring the upcoming HBO limited series Task. The show is created by Brad Inglesby (Mare of Easttown, Out of the Furnace) and stars Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Thuso Mbedu, Sam Keeley, Fabien Frankel, Raúl Castillo, Alison Oliver, Phoebe Fox, Silvia Dionicio and Martha Plimpton. The 7-part crime drama is set in the working class suburbs of Philadelphia and follows an FBI agent who heads a task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man. Inglesby & Ruffalo are also executive producing the project with wiip’s Mark Roybal (Doubt, Like Crazy) & Paul Lee (Dickinson, White House Plumbers), David Crockett (A Cure for Wellness, Captive State), Ron Schmidt (House of the Dragon, The Sympathizer), as well as Jeremiah Zagar (We the Animals) and Salli Richardson-Whitfield (The Gilded Age, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty) who also directed the series. Deacon has previously collaborated with Zagar on the 2022 Netflix film Hustle. Task will premiere this September on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Deacon’s other recent projects include Tony Benna’s feature André Is an Idiot, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date.
