Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout & Dead ReckoningBlack Widow, The Wheel of TimeBeverly Hills Cop: Axel FTop Gun: Maverick) is scoring the upcoming BBC/Disney+ drama The War Between the Land and the Sea. The first Doctor Who spin-off series is written by Russell T Davies (Doctor Who, Torchwood) & Pete McTighe (A Discovery of Witches, The Pact) and stars Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrient. The 5-parter directed by Dylan Holmes Williams follows the international military organization UNIT who step into action when a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing themselves to humanity.Davies & McTighe are also executive producing he Bad Wolf production with Joel Collins (Industry), Phil Collinson (The Watch), Julie Gardner (DaVinci’s Demons, Lady in the Lake) and Jane Tranter (Succession, The Night Of). Balfe has previously scored Bad Wolf’s HBO series His Dark Materials. The War Between the Land and the Sea will premiere in the UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and in other markets, including the U.S. on Disney+. A release date is expected to be announced soon.

Balfe’s other recent projects include Michael Bay’s documentary We Are Storror, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date, as well as Babak Anvari’s Hallow Road ,which also premiered at SXSW and opened in UK theaters earlier this month.
