Also opening wide is the crime drama The Alto Knights directed by Barry Levinson and starring Robert De Niro, Debra Messing, Michael Rispoli, Cosmo Jarvis, Kathrine Narducci, Ed Amatrudo, Michael Adler, Joe Bacino, Anthony J. Gallo, Frank Piccirillo, Matt Servitto, Louis Mustillo, Wallace Langham and Robert Uricola. David Fleming (The Last of Us, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Unforgivable, Jim Henson: Idea Man, Damsel, Hillbilly Elegy, Blue Planet II) has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the sci-fi horror thriller Ash directed by Flying Lotus (Imperial Dreams, Yasuke, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, Perfect) and starring Eiza González, Aaron Paul, Iko Uwais, Beulah Koale and Kate Elliot. Opening semi-wide in around 800 theaters is the drama Magazine Dreams written and directed by Elijah Bynum and starring Jonathan Majors, Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Harriet Sansom Harris, Harrison Page and Mike O’Hearn. The film’s original music composed by Jason Hill (Mindhunter, Dark Matter, City on Fire, Them: The Scare, Voir, The Confession Killer, Love, Death & Robots, Extrapolations). Department of Recording and Power will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next Friday, March 28. Also opening semi-wide in around 900 theaters is the horror thriller Locked directed by David Yarovesky and starring Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins. Timothy Williams (Pearl, Brightburn, Finding You, Your Monster, Mary, Walking with the Enemy, Agent Elvis) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’ score will be released next Friday by Filmtrax/Atlantic Screen Music. The movie, which follows a man who breaks into a luxury SUV and steps into a deadly trap set by a self-proclaimed vigilante delivering his own brand of twisted justice, is being distributed by The Avenue.
Opening in around 200 theaters is the sci-fi thriller The Assessment directed by Fleur Fortuné and staring Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Olsen, Himesh Patel, Charlotte Ritchie, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Pinnock, Leah Harvey and Indira Varma. The film’s original music is composed by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (All of Us Strangers, Living, The Agency, The Strays, The Forgotten Battle, Censor). Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the French biographical drama Being Maria (Maria) written and directed by Jessica Palud and starring Anamaria Vartolomei (as Maria Schneider), Matt Dillon (as Marlon Brando), Celeste Brunnquell, Yvan Attal, Giuseppe Maggio, Marie Gillain, Jonathan Couzinie and Stanislas Merhar. The film’s original music is composed by singer/songwriter, record producer and actor Benjamin Biolay. No word on a soundtrack release.
