Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, The Tourist, The WidowBaptiste, Primeval, The SerpentRipper Street, The Confessions of Frannie Langton) has provided the original score for the new BBC drama Miss Austen. The show is written by Andrea Gibb (Dear Frankie, Swallows and Amazons) based on Gill Hornby’s bestselling novel and stars Keeley Hawes, Rose Leslie, Synnøve Karlsen, Patsy Ferran, Phyllis Logan, Alfred Enoch, Max Irons, Jessica Hynes, Mirren Mack, Calam Lynch, Kevin McNally and Liv Hill. The 4-part period drama directed by Aisling Walsh (Maudie) reimagines the historic literary mystery of the notorious burning of Jane Austen’s letters by her sister Cassandra. Gibb, Hawes & Walsh are also executive producing the project for Christine Langan (The Lost King, Camping) for Bonnie Productions, Susanne Simpson (Wolf Hall, Sanditon) for MASTERPIECE and Polly Williams (Red Rose) for Federation Stories. Scherrer has previously collaborated with Gibb & Walsh on the 2019 TV movie Elizabeth Is Missing. Miss Austen will premiere in the UK this coming Sunday, February 2 on BBC One and will debut in the U.S. on May 4 on PBS.

Scherrer’s other recent projects include the limited series Protection, which premiered in the U.S. last month on BritBox and will make its UK debut in the coming months on ITV.
