Composer Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, Bridge to Terabithia, The Proposal, John Q, Sex and the City, Wakefield, The Ugly Truth, Escape from Planet Earth) is reuniting with director Tyler Perry on the upcoming Netflix original film The Six Triple Eight. The movie is written and directed by Perry and stars Kerry Washington, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Shanice Shantay, Kylie Jefferson, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Gregg Sulkin, Scott Daniel Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston and Oprah Winfrey. The historical drama is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas in World War II and tells the story of an Army Captain and her historic battalion of female soldiers as they defy the odds to deliver hope to the front lines. Perry is also producing the project with Nicole Avant (The Black Godfather), Keri Selig (Passengers), Carlota Espinosa, Angi Bones (Mea Culpa, Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black) and Tony L. Strickland. The movie will also feature the original song The Journey written by Diane Warren and performed by H.E.R. (released as a digital single last year). Zigman has previously scored numerous features for Perry, including For Colored Girls, Why Did I Get Married?, Meet the Browns, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, several of the director’s Madea movies and most recently 2022’s Netflix film A Jazzman’s Blues. The Six Triple Eight will be released in select theaters on December 6, 2024 before premiering on December 20 on Netflix.
As previously reported, Zigman also has Angel Studios’ limited series Truth & Conviction coming up and is also expected to score Season 3 of Max’s And Just Like That....
