Leopold Ross (The Book of EliTriple 9, Death Note, Dreamin’ Wild, Dr. Death) has been tapped to score the upcoming Apple TV+ original series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The show is developed by Chris Black (Severance) & Matt Fraction based on Legendary’s MonsterVerse and stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Kiersey Clemons, Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Anders Holm, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski. The sci-fi drama takes place after the battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and tracks two siblings who are following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Black & Fraction are also executive producing the Legendary Television production with Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Army of the Dead) & Tory Tunnell (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Underground), Andy Goddard (Six Minutes to Midnight), Brad Van Arragon (Yellowjackets, Lost in Space), Andrew Colville (Severance, TURN: Washington’s Spies), Toho’s Hiro Matsuoka & Takemasa Arita, as well as Matt Shakman (WandaVision, The Great) who also directed the first two episodes. The project marks the sixth installment in Legendary’s MonsterVerse following the features Godzilla (scored by Alexandre Desplat), Kong: Skull Island (Henry Jackman), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Bear McCreary), Godzilla vs. Kong (Tom Holkenborg) and the animated TV series Skull Island (Joseph Trapanese & Jason Lazarus). Ross has previously co-scored the Black-produced 2016 Cinemax series Outcast. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on November 17, 2023 on Apple TV+.
