Sky and Peacock have announced today that Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, Dune, The Dark Knight) and Kara Talve (Prehistoric Planet, The Simpsons) will score the upcoming limited series The Tattooist of Auschwitz. The show is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Heather Morris and stars Jonah Hauer-King, Anna Próchniak, Harvey Keitel, Melanie Lynskey and Jonas Nay. The 6-part drama is inspired by the true-life story of Lale Sokolov who arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1942 and was given the job of tattooing identification numbers on prisoners’ arms. Jacquelin Perske (The Cry) is the project’s lead writer and is also executive producing the Synchronicity Films production with Claire Mundell (The Cry, Not Another Happy Ending), Serena Thompson (The Rising, Domina) and Zai Bennett. Tali Shalom-Ezer (My Days of Mercy) is directing all six episodes. The Tattooist of Auschwitz will premiere in 2024 overseas on Sky and in the U.S. on Peacock.

Zimmer’s other upcoming projects include Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two (to open in theaters on November 3) and Gareth Edwards’ The Creator (to be released in theaters on September 29). Talve has also recently been scoring Hulu’s upcoming limited series Faraway Downs.
