Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Queen of Katwe, Touching the Void, Roots, State of Play) has composed the original music for the upcoming action comedy Mafia Mamma. The film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) and stars Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci. The movie centers on a suburban American woman who inherits her grandfather’s Mafia empire and defies everyone’s expectations, including her own, as the new head of the family business. Debbie Jhoon and Michael J. Feldman wrote the screenplay based on an idea by Amanda Sthers (Holy Lands, Madame). Collette & Sthers are producing the Vocab Films, IDEA(L) production with New Sparta’s Christopher Simon (The Sweeney, Pusher). Heffes has previously collaborated with Hardwicke on 2019’s Miss Bala. Mafia Mamma is set to be released in U.S. theaters on April 14, 2023 by Bleecker Street.
