Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine, The Good Dinosaur, The Addams Family) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming film adaptation of Delia Owens’ bestselling novel Where the Crawdads Sing. The movie is directed by Olivia Newman (First Match) and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson and David Strathairn. The drama is set against the backdrop of the mid-20th century South and follows a woman who raised herself in the marshes outside of her small town and becomes a suspect in the murder of a man she was once involved with. Lucy Alibar (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Troop Zero) wrote the screenplay. Reese Witherspoon & Lauren Neustadter (Little Fires Everywhere, The Morning Show) are producing the project for Hello Sunshine, alongside Elizabeth Gabler, Erin Siminoff & Aislinn Dunster for 3000 Pictures. Where the Crawdads Sing is set to be released in theaters nationwide on July 22, 2022 by Sony Pictures.
