John Carpenter (Halloween, Assault on Precint 13, Christine, The Fog), Cody Carpenter & Daniel Davies have teamed up to score the upcoming horror thriller Firestarter. The film is directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil) and stars Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Sydney Lemmon, John Beasley, Kurtwood Smith, Michael Greyeyes and Gloria Reuben. The movie based on Stephen King’s novel of the same title centers on a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers who fights to protect her family and herself from sinister forces that seek to capture and control her. Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, The Quarry) wrote the screenplay. Jason Blum (Get Out, Insidious, The Invisible Man) is producing the project for Blumhouse, alongside Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend) for Weed Road Pictures. John & Cody Carpenter & Daniel Davies have previously scored Blumhouse’s Halloween and Halloween Kills, as well as the upcoming Halloween Ends. Firestarter will be released in theaters nationwide on May 13 by Universal Pictures and will also be available to stream/download on Peacock on the same day.
Halloween Ends co-scored by John & Cody Carpenter & Davies is set to be released in theaters on October 14, 2022.
Good to see John finally get his chance to contribute his skills to a Firestarter adaptation once again.
