Hollywood Records has released the first track from the soundtrack for Steven Spielberg’s new film adaptation of West Side Story. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music platforms is Balcony Scene (Tonight) performed by cast members Rachel Zegler & Ansel Elgort. The song originally written by Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim (lyrics) is produced by David Newman (who also arranged the track), Matt Sullivan and Jeanine Tesori. The full soundtrack album will be released digitally this Friday, December 3 and physically next week. Check out our previous article for the full details and to pre-order the album. West Side Story also stars Ariana DeBose, Mike Faist, David Alvarez, Corey Stoll, Josh Andrés Rivera, Brian d’Arcy James, Ana Isabelle & Rita Moreno and will be released in theaters nationwide on December 10 by 20th Century Studios.

Rachel has the voice of an angel and will be a big star post-WSS. While Ansel sounds good here, his performance is a little stiff. Overall, an iconic duet is reborn thanks to these two.
