Rachel Portman (The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, Emma, The Manchurian Candidate, Never Let Me Go, Godmothered) has composed the original music for the upcoming documentary Julia. The film is directed by Julie Cohen & Betsy West (RBG, My Name Is Pauli Murray) and tells the story of the legendary cookbook author and television superstar Julia Childs who changed the way Americans think about food, television, and even about women. The movie uses never-before-seen archival footage, personal photos and first-person narratives to trace Child’s path and her struggles to create and publish the revolutionary Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Cohen and West are also producing the Imagine Documentaries and CNN Films production with Sara Bernstein (Rebuilding Paradise), Justin Wilkes (What Happened, Miss Simone?). Ron Howard & Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) are among the project’s executive producers. Julia will be released in theaters this year by Sony Pictures Classics.
