Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, John Q, Bridge to Terabithia, The Proposal, Sex and the City: The Movie) has composed a new score for the upcoming family comedy The War with Grandpa. The film is directed by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run) and stars Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Oakes Fegley, Rob Riggle, Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin and Jane Seymour. The movie is based on Robert Kimmel Smith’s bestselling book and follows a boy who is forced to move out of his room when his recently widowed grandfather moves in and devises outrageous pranks to make his grandfather surrender the room. Tom J. Astle & Matt Ember (Get Smart, Home) wrote the screenplay. Marvin Peart (The Perfect Holiday), Rosa Peart and Phillip Glasser (Life on the Line) are producing the Marro Films production. Zigman has previously scored the Peart-produced animated feature Escape from Planet Earth. Christopher Lennertz has composed the music for the original version of The War with Grandpa, which was set to be released in theaters by the Weinstein Company back in 2017/2018. The comedy is set to open in theaters nationwide on October 9, 2020 by 101 Studios.
Zigman’s other upcoming projects include the indie drama Gossamer Folds.
Nice to see Aaron again even if it’s for subpar movies and we won’t be given a soundtrack release (i’m still waiting for the proposal score).
Really hope this is a comeback for him like rupert gregson williams.
