BBC America announced today that Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and the team at Bleeding Fingers Music have created new compositions for BBC America’s upcoming television event Planet Earth: A Celebration, which highlights eight of the most extraordinary sequences from the Emmy-winning docu-series Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II. They have also rearranged the original scores from the two shows for the new TV special. The string section of the score is performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, accompanied by Brit and Mercury Award-winning UK rapper, Dave, who performs on the grand piano. Sir David Attenborough has provided new narration for the project. The composers’ music from Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II is now available from Silva Screen Records. Planet Earth: A Celebration will premiere on August 31, 2020 and will air simultaneously on BBC America, AMC, SundanceTV and IFC.
In related news, Hans Zimmer’s official anthem for Major League Soccer, which premiered earlier this year to coincide with the start of its 25th Season, has just been released as a digital single.
